The District of Columbia Building Code Advisory Committee (BCAC) is made up of a cross section of professionals who perform line-by-line assessments of the building codes, as they relate to the unique characteristics of the District of Columbia.

The committee strives for consensus and allows a wide range of stakeholders to participate in the process. The committee also advises the Mayor and the District of Columbia government on building code matters under the guidelines of Mayor’s Order 89-257.
